  • Free train transfers across Spain (AVE, ALVIA, and Intercity), before and after the trip from/to the nearest train station to your place of origin. You will be able to travel in a preferred seat (choose comfort), and at the stations, you can use the Club Lounges.

The itinerary begins in San Sebastian, a famous coastal city in northern Spain known for its stunning beaches, cultural and leisure activities, gastronomy… As the train progresses, it ventures into the Picos de Europa, where you can admire spectacular landscapes amidst mountains, green valleys, and lakes. Then, the itinerary will take you on a route parallel to the Cantabrian Sea coast until reaching Galicia.

The train makes several stops in cities such as Bilbao, Santander, Oviedo, Gijon, Santiago de Compostela, where you can discover their historical and cultural sites. In addition to these important cities, the train will take us to explore other charming towns and iconic places in northern Spain, such as Potes, Santillana del Mar, Llanes, Luarca, Ribadeo…

Day 1 (Saturday). San Sebastian - Carranza.

Reception at the Hotel Barcelo Costa Vasca in San Sebastian at 13:00 hrs., the starting point of our magnificent 8-day journey through Northern Spain. Next, a guided panoramic tour of the beautiful city of San Sebastian, followed by lunch at a city restaurant. Afterwards, a bus will transfer us to Bilbao, where our train, the Transcantabrico, awaits. Upon arrival, we will receive a welcome aboard and the crew will offer us a welcome drink, after which we will settle into our comfortable and luxurious suite. All aboard, the train begins its route towards Carranza. Dinner on board. The train will remain parked overnight at Carranza station.

Day 2 (Sunday). Carranza - Bilbao - Santander.

We will start the morning, as every day, enjoying our delicious à la carte and buffet breakfast. The Transcantabrico will take us back to Bilbao to visit this dynamic city, which has reinvented itself after the decline of its traditional heavy industry. The visit includes entry to the famous Guggenheim Museum, a symbol of the city. Return to the train for lunch as we head to Santander. Tour of the elegant capital of Cantabria and free time to stroll around the city. Dinner followed by an optional visit to the Gran Casino de Santander. Night in Santander.

Day 3 (Monday). Santander - Potes - Cabezon de la Sal.

After breakfast on board, we will depart by coach to Potes, passing through the impressive Desfiladero de la Hermida. After visiting this charming Cantabrian town, we can enjoy a thermal circuit at the Balneario de la Hermida. Lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit El Capricho in Comillas, a colorful and whimsical 19th-century palace designed by Antonio Gaudi. Our next destination is Cabezon de la Sal. Dinner and overnight on board in Cabezon de la Sal.

Day 4 (Tuesday). Cabezon de la Sal - Santillana del Mar - Llanes.

We begin the day with a visit to the Neocave of Altamira, a museum and faithful reproduction of this prime example of Upper Paleolithic cave art. Afterward, we will visit Santillana del Mar, a town with its wonderfully preserved medieval old town. After lunch, return to the train to venture into Asturian lands until we reach Llanes. Dinner and overnight on board in Llanes.

Day 5 (Wednesday). Llanes - Picos de Europa - Oviedo.

After breakfast on board, we will venture with our coach into the heart of the Picos de Europa National Park. We will visit Lake Enol and then head to the Sanctuary of Covadonga, a neo-Romanesque basilica located next to the cave where the image of the Santina (the Virgin of Covadonga) is venerated, a place of worship and pilgrimage. Return to the Transcantabrico Train for lunch on board as we travel to Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias, with its historic center of undeniable medieval flavor. Visit of the city, dinner, and night in Oviedo.

Day 6 (Thursday). Oviedo - Gijon - Luarca.

After breakfast on board, we will start the day with a visit to Gijon, known as 'The Capital of the Green Coast', situated in a beautiful bay. Lunch in Gijon before returning to the Transcantabrico Train and traveling along the Asturian coast to Luarca, the White Town of the Green Coast, where we will enjoy a guided tour of this charming coastal town. Dinner and overnight on board in Luarca.

Day 7 (Friday). Luarca - Ribadeo - Viveiro.

The Transcantabrico enters Galicia, arriving at Ribadeo, a historic Galician town bordering the Principality of Asturias. By bus, we will tour the coast of Lugo to the Playa de Las Catedrales, one of the most spectacular beaches in the world. Then, we will have a panoramic visit of Ribadeo, a beautiful manorial town declared of tourist interest, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon, the Transcantabrico Train will head to Viveiro, where we will have a guided tour of this beautiful manorial town declared of tourist interest, followed by free time. Dinner and night in Viveiro.

Day 8 (Saturday). Viveiro - Ferrol - Santiago de Compostela.

Enjoying our last breakfast on board, we will arrive at Ferrol, where the Transcantabrico bus awaits us to take us to Santiago de Compostela. Visit to the historic center of this city (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the destination of pilgrims for a thousand years, which treasures countless artistic gems such as its magnificent Cathedral. End of the journey after the visit at the Parador Nacional de los Reyes Catolicos around 13:00 hrs.
