The itinerary begins in San Sebastián, a famous coastal city in northern Spain known for its impressive beaches, cultural and leisure activities, gastronomy… As the train progresses, it ventures into the Picos de Europa, where you can admire spectacular landscapes among mountains, green valleys, and lakes. Later on, the itinerary will take you on a parallel journey along the Cantabrian Sea coast until reaching Galicia.

The train makes several stops in cities such as Bilbao, Santander, Oviedo, Gijón, Santiago de Compostela, where you can discover their historical and cultural sites. In addition to these important cities, the train will take us to discover other charming towns and emblematic places in northern Spain, such as Potes, Santillana del Mar, Llanes, Luarca, Ribadeo…

Day 1 (Saturday). San Sebastián-Carranza

Reception in San Sebastián at 13:00 (Barceló Costa Vasca Hotel). Visit and lunch, then our luxury bus will take us to Bilbao, where the Transcantabrian Train awaits us. Upon arrival, the crew will offer us a welcome drink. Journey to Carranza while enjoying our first dinner on board. Overnight in Carranza.

Day 2 (Sunday). Carranza-Santander

We will start the morning, as every day, enjoying our delicious à la carte and buffet breakfast. The Transcantabrian Train will take us back to Bilbao to visit this dynamic city, which has reinvented itself after the decline of its traditional heavy industry. The visit includes entry to the famous Guggenheim Museum, a symbol of this new Bilbao. Return to the train for lunch while we head to Santander. Tour of the elegant capital of Cantabria and free time to explore it at our leisure. Overnight in Santander.

Day 3 (Monday). Santander-Cabezón de la Sal

During breakfast, travel to Unquera on the train. With our coach, we will head to Potes, crossing the impressive Desfiladero de la Hermida. After visiting this charming Cantabrian village, we can enjoy a thermal circuit at the Balneario de la Hermida. Lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit El Capricho in Comillas, a brilliant and colorful 19th-century palace by Antonio Gaudí. Dinner and overnight on board in Cabezón de la Sal.

Day 4 (Tuesday). Cabezón de la Sal-Llanes

We start the day with a visit to the town of Santillana del Mar, with its beautifully preserved medieval old town. Later, we will visit the Neo-cave of Altamira, a museum and faithful reproduction of this prime example of Upper Paleolithic cave art. After lunch, we will return to the train to venture into Asturian lands until Llanes. Visit, dinner on board, and overnight in Llanes.

Day 5 (Wednesday). Llanes-Oviedo

After breakfast, we will venture into the heart of the Picos de Europa National Park with our coach. We will visit Lake Enol and then head to the Sanctuary of Covadonga, a sacred place full of tradition and legend. Return to the Transcantabrian Train for lunch on board while we travel to Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias and a exponent of Asturian pre-Romanesque art with gems like San Julián de los Prados. Visit, dinner, and overnight in Oviedo.

Day 6 (Thursday). Oviedo-Luarca

We start the day by going to Avilés, an ancient town that has preserved a valuable historical center. Then we will head to Gijón, a city open to the Cantabrian Sea and full of cultural events. We will return to the Transcantabrian Train to travel along the Asturian coast to Luarca, the White Village of the Green Coast, where we will enjoy a guided tour of this charming fishing town. Dinner and overnight on board in Luarca.

Day 7 (Friday). Luarca-Viveiro

Travel to Ribadeo, a historic Galician town bordering the Principality of Asturias. By bus, we will tour the coast of Lugo to the Playa de Las Catedrales, one of the most spectacular beaches in the world. Next, we will have a panoramic tour of Ribadeo and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Viveiro by train, where we will have a guided tour and free time to enjoy. Dinner and overnight in Viveiro.

Day 8 (Saturday). Viveiro-Santiago de Compostela

Enjoying our last breakfast on board, we will arrive in Ferrol, where the Transcantabrian Train bus awaits us to take us to Santiago de Compostela. Visit the historic center of this city, a destination for pilgrims for a thousand years, which treasures countless artistic gems like its magnificent cathedral. End of the trip after the visit at the Parador de los Reyes Católicos around 1:00 p.m.
