THE TRANSCANTABRICO TRAIN (Grand Luxury)

Transcantábrico

The Transcantabrico Grand Luxury train was born as the Transcantabrico in 1983 and celebrates its 41st anniversary in 2024. Its route has always been along the Cantabrian coast in northern Spain. In 2011, it was transformed into a luxury tourist train and renamed “Transcantabrico Grand Luxury“. A few years later, in 2014, it was distinguished in London with the award for the “Most Luxurious Train in the World“, a recognition granted by prestigious international experts.

A rail cruise that will transport you to the early 20th century due to its resemblance and style to the classic luxury trains of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for their elegance and glamour. The original composition of the train consisted of three Pullman lounge cars built in the United Kingdom in 1923 (pub, bar, and lounge), which have now been refurbished, equipped, and decorated in the Belle Époque style, authentic jewels of railway heritage.

The current composition of the train includes 4 lounge cars, 7 sleeper cars, a kitchen car, a generator car, and a service car for the crew.

The maximum capacity of the train is 28 passengers.

The lounge cars of “The Transcantabrico Grand Luxury”

All the lounge cars are internally connected, allowing passengers to move freely throughout the train.

The train’s lounges are luxurious spaces designed for enjoyment while traveling, offering panoramic views of the landscape from the train’s most conducive spot, the glass-roofed panoramic lounge. Passengers can enjoy a drink, a meal, or simply relax in a comfortable atmosphere.

In the restaurant lounge cars of the Transcantabrico Grand Luxury, guests can experience the perfect ambiance for à la carte breakfast or a delicious lunch or dinner, featuring a gastronomic journey influenced by northern Spanish and international cuisine.

The bar car service offers a variety of drinks from morning until late at night, including teas, coffees, and assorted cocktails with or without alcohol, to be enjoyed in the lounges or in the comfortable suites, with 24-hour service available.

Special moments are experienced during the night, as these lounges offer live music in the pub car, in addition to gastronomic experiences crafted by the chef. These lounges are also used for cultural activities.
