Introducing the new schedule for El Transcantábrico 2024

We have the 2024 schedule available for El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo, which includes its classic itinerary from San Sebastián to Santiago de Compostela and vice versa; and as new features in 2024, two new itineraries: Oviedo to San Sebastián and Santiago de Compostela to Gijón.

El Transcantábrico, one of the world’s most important luxury tourist trains

El Transcantábrico has been considered one of the world’s most luxurious trains since its creation in 1983. This year 2023 marks 40 years of operation on the railroads of northern Spain. In 2014, it was distinguished in London with the award for the “Most Luxurious Train in the World”, a recognition given by prestigious international experts.

Since 2011, it has been operating its now classic itinerary along the route by the Cantabrian cornice, northern Spain, from San Sebastián to Santiago de Compostela and vice versa. An eight-day journey through the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, and Galicia, discovering spectacular landscapes, emblematic cities, World Heritage sites, and charming towns.

A journey on the Transcantábrico train is unique, exclusive, and with a very personalized service, each trip only accommodating 28 passengers. It covers 4 communities in Spain: the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, and Galicia.

El Transcantábrico: spectacular landscapes, World Heritage sites, tourist cities, and charming towns

A journey to discover the most spectacular natural landscapes of northern Spain, represented by the Hermida Gorge and the Picos de Europa. A relaxing experience as you gaze at the beaches and sea from the train windows.

Charming historic towns: Potes, Cabezón de la Sal, and Santillana del Mar in Cantabria; Llanes and Luarca in Asturias; Ribadeo, Viveiro, and Ferrol in Galicia.
